MEET FRED

Fred is a lifelong Everett resident, as is his wife Michele.  He grew up on Everett Street in West Everett, one of four boys raised by his mom, Rose, in a single parent household.  Fred attended St. Anthony’s Parochial School and Malden Catholic High School.  He graduated from Boston College with a double major in Business Administration and Political Science.

After college, Fred attended New England School of Law where he graduated cum laude.  Fred was a New England Scholar and his exceptional academic performance resulted in a two-year membership on the New England Law Review.   He was elected by his peers to serve as their

Business Manager.  Fred was also a published student author and was presented with the New England School of Law Service Award at graduation.

Fred has been a practicing attorney for over 25 years.  He and his wife have a law office on Broadway in Everett.  In addition to practicing in the State Courts of the Massachusetts Judicial System and the Federal Court System for the District of Massachusetts, Fred has been qualified and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

In his early twenties, Fred had the distinct honor and privilege to serve on the Everett Common Council representing the residents of Ward 6.  He was elected to 5 consecutive terms, serving a total of 10 years. In 1994, Fred was elected President of the Council.  During his tenure, he chaired every major committee including Finance, Rules and Ordinances and Public Safety.  Fred believes that serving as an elected official is an extremely rewarding experience and he is proud to have made significant contributions to our City for and on behalf of our residents.  After serving 10 years, he opted not to seek an additional term in order to spend all his free time with his then newborn son, Zachary, and shortly thereafter, his daughter, Gabrielle.

Councilor Fred Capone

Fred and his family believe in the importance of education and giving back to the community.  He and Michele have personally donated annual scholarships to deserving high school graduates, who reside in Everett, for over 23 years.  Fred has been active with the Italian American Association of Everett for over 33 years, having served as President, Director, and the long-standing Scholarship Committee Chairperson.  He also serves as the scholarship chairperson of the Saugus-Everett Elks, Lodge 642 and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Everett Kiwanis Club. Fred has served as a Trustee for Tri-City Mental Health, Chairman of the St. Anthony’s Parochial School Board, and as a member of the St. Anthony’s Parish Finance Committee.  He has volunteered his time as a youth basketball coach, a youth mentor and with numerous charitable organizations including several local food pantries.  Fred has personally delivered food on a weekly basis to needy Everett residents.

Fourteen years later, with your support, Fred returned to active public service.  Currently, he is completing his 4th term as the Ward 1 City Councilor.  Fred's leadership skillset was immediately apparent to his colleagues and he was elected President of the Council in his first term.  Over the years, Fred's Everett roots have only grown deeper and stronger. He is proud to be from Everett and to have raised his family in our great City.  Fred and Michele have been married for 27 years and Everett has been the only place they have ever called home.
